Where are your play kitchens made?
Our play kitchens are proudly made in the USA from quality imported Baltic birch and North American maple. Each one is handcrafted by a second-generation Amish toymaker and his team in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Our pieces are a blend of modern form, practical function, and generations-old craftsmanship.
What makes your play kitchens nontoxic?
Safety is a top priority for us, and we go to great lengths to keep our products free of toxic chemicals. To that end, our water-based paints and finishes are isocyanate-free, phosphate-free, formaldehyde-free, and lead-free. And because the air your child breaths is just as important, the paints and finishes have been extensively tested to meet stringent emissions standards for indoor air quality, and are HAPs-free, which means they are free of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) known to be harmful to humans. Additionally, our kitchens have been rigorously tested by a CPSC-approved third-party safety lab for lead, heavy metals, and to comply with California's stringent Prop 65 requirement. Please see a complete list of our materials here.
What makes your play kitchens eco-friendly?
We aim to be environmentally conscious from material and process through production and packaging. Our kitchens are made from sturdy Baltic birch, a sustainable choice as its naturally fast-growing, and solid, enduring maple. We source what we can locally, such as our water-based finishes and the magnetic closures, to cut down on transportation. Our manufacturing is efficient with a conscientious effort made to curb waste and energy. And of course, our packaging is all recyclable.
What materials do you use?
We take safety and environmental responsibility seriously, so we only use the finest materials for our play kitchens. We source naturally sustainable Baltic birch from the Baltics and solid maple grown here in North America. We chose these materials for their unparalleled strength, aesthetic appeal, and eco-friendly characteristics. Our kitchens also include a gorgeous, USA-made commercial-grade porcelain on steel chalkboard, which are among the highest quality and longest lasting chalkboards on the market. We use Titebond Original nontoxic wood glue and our screws and hinges have been independently tested with a third-party lab to verify adherence to the ASTM toy safety standard. Lastly, we top our kitchens off with water-based, nontoxic finishes, that are low-VOC, HAPs-free, lead-free, phthalate-free, formaldehyde-free, and have also been independently tested for lead, phthalates, heavy metals, and adherence to the federal toy safety standard. Do you comply with safety standards?
Yes! Our products have been rigorously tested by an independent, CPSC-accredited lab to comply with relevant federal regulations. Our kitchens meet or exceed ASTM F 963 toy safety standards. For more information on our compliance certificates, please contact us at email@example.com.
What makes your play kitchen different from your competitors?
We built a one-of-a-kind play kitchen that marries form, function, and safety. Our play kitchens take a cue from real designer kitchens, have been rigorously tested to meet or exceed applicable safety standards, and are handcrafted right here in the USA from furniture-grade, eco-friendly woods and nontoxic finishes. No batteries, no particle board, and no MDF. Our play kitchens, like any quality children's furniture, are built to last, from day to day, sibling to sibling, and generation to generation.
